This doesn't make cents leh...

Well, I'm finally back to blogging. Basically you're going to hear me kaopei more often than anything else.... So here's the first one!

So the latest talk around town has been of Singtel's (our state owned Telco) chief executive calling for the right to charge services such as Whatsapp and Skype. It all started with this

She looks like an older version of Chen Li Ping btw...
First, let me try to work out the math and see if I actually get what's going on:
She's asking for the right to charge service providers such as Skype and whatsapp, who offer communication platforms based off DATA NETWORKS, because of a threat to the supposed billions of dollars spent on investments towards fixed line and mobile networks.

I'll try to translate this into "boohoo" talk

We fucked up with our fixed line and mobile networks investment because everyone's using whatsapp and LINE nowadays instead of traditional SMS and shit... Can we charge whatsapp for being the more popular choice? No we did not make a prediction error.
So you make less money from SMSes nowadays. Still, wouldn't sending a message via whatsapp still eat up part of our monthly data bundles? It just doesn't add up that we are paying for the data usage and you still have the cheek to ask to get money from the OTT providers.

That said, here's another joke
Our ambition must be to become the preferred network partners of customers and OTT players,
She makes it sound like the OTT guys actually have a choice of which carrier their users should go for.

ANTI-CLIMAX END OF RANTING BECAUSE I'M AT A STUPID LOSS OF WORDS AND THIS POST ALONE TOOK A WHILE TO TYPE SHIT!
